Maybury state park barn

Move-In-Whole, Northville TWP MI - The move-in-whole of this 40'x90' Barn and its sister wing barn was done to replace virtually identical barns that had burned down at the Maybury State Park living farm. Due to a loaded height of 45', the lower power transmission lines had to be de-powered and lifted to clear the roof.  This Barn is significant due to its very rare 40' Swing Beam Truss and a vintage steel shingle roof. The barn can be viewed at the, seasonally open, living farm at 50165 Eight Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48167.

Thayers park barn

Move-In-Whole, Northville TWP MI - This was a barn rescue, moved from a neighborhood association to Thayer's Corner Nature Area at 8250 Napier Rd, Northville Twp MI.  Largely, the expenses of this project were covered by the neighbors, service providers, and material supply businesses of the communities surrounding the park. The replacement floor was sawn from the dead ash trees (emerald ash borer) on this same destination site.  This Barn was the recipient of a Michigan Barn Preservation Network Barn of the Year Award.

botsford inn coach house barn

Move-In-Whole, Farmington Hills MI -  This Barn was removed from the Botsford Inn site at 8 mile and Grand River, the 16 mile stagecoach stop out of Detroit.  Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were noted to have frequently square danced, with their wives, at this location.  Henry grew fond of the location and eventurally purchased it.  The Inn and Barn were lifted in-whole and moved rearward on the property when Grand River required widening.  The Barn was again moved in-whole to make way for a new cancer treatment center.  At the destination site, the Stewart homestead at 35835 13 mile road, the Barn rejoined a home previously at the Botsford Inn site - all on the National Register of Historic Places.  This was the recipient of a Michigan Barn Preservation Network Barn of the Year Award.

Dickerson barn

Move by Disassembly and Reassembly, Salem TWP MI -  The 1830 Dickerson Barn is said to be the Oldest Barn in Washtenaw County.  This Barn is located at the same location as the Jarvis Stone Schoolhouse at 7991 N Territorial Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170.  This is the home for the Salem Area Historical Society which consists of members from several communities. This Barn was the recipient of a Michigan Barn Preservation Network Barn of the Year Award.

Staebler Farm County Park

Building Lift, Ann Arbor MI - As part of a complete farmstead restoration, the substantial repair of one of the oldest barns in Washtenaw County was needed. Several broken timbers were replaced and the barn set on a new foundation.   This barn is located at the Staebler Farm County Park at 7734 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. This Barn was the recipient of a Michigan Barn Preservation Network Barn of the Year Award.

meadowbrook barn

Building Lift, Rochester MI - As part of the greater Meadowbrook Hall Estate, this Barn is on the National Register of Historic Places. In substantial disrepair, the barn was raised, new foundation placed, reroofed, new cupolas installed, lighting suppression system replaced, windows rebuilt, doors restored, and siding repainted. This Barn was the recipient of a Michigan Barn Preservation Network Barn of the Year Award. The Barn itself is located at 160 Festival Dr, Rochester Hills, MI 48309.

Brock barn at winkler mill

Move by Disassembly and Reassembly, Rochester MI - This is on the Historic Winkler Mill site, the owner wanted a Barn of the same size as the original mill.  The owner also wanted the new Barn to be built to the standards of a potential home conversion.  Engineered drawings were created and we found a frame available that we were able to recut to reduce the size.  Wind load requirements drove sidewalls of Engineered design and Structural Insulated Panels (SIP's) were utilized on the roof for both insulation and their inherent Engineered properties.

Brown Barn

Building Lift, Fowlerville, MI - On this barn project, we were a subcontractor doing the building lift, front/backwall straightening, and the replacement of select sill timbers. The significance of this project in how it showcases improvement of the shape simply by setting the original structure on a new flat foundation. Notice how strait the roofline is afterward.
